Call for Papers – satellite meeting meeting

Data modelling and/or multimedia in digital theatre research

12 March 2022, 9:00am - 12:00pm

University of Maryland / Online

Deadline for abstracts: 10 January 2022

The IFTR-Working Group Digital Humanities will be holding an intermediate meeting in March 2022 during the conference on Performing Arts in the Digital Age: Interactions and New Directions at the University of Maryland, March 10th – 12th 2022 (hybrid: live / online). The working group will meet on March 12th and welcomes abstract submissions from new and existing members – becoming a member of IFTR is not required for this intermediate meeting. We plan to particularly address aspects of data modeling and/or multimedia and therefore are especially interested in presentations that:

  • examine possibilities of modeling entities connected to theatre and theatre history such as agents, events like theatre productions, places of performance, artifacts/archival sources etc.
  • address best practices concerning conceptual models for theatre and performance
  • use Semantic Web technologies
  • Further data interoperability on theatre and performance
  • explore performance video, audio, photographs and other images as data
  • integrate 3d models of theatre buildings, props and other performing objects
  • link different types of theatre data through interactive visualizations and scholarly digital editions

We welcome demonstrations, work-in-progress presentations, as well as conceptual or historical explorations of any of these topics.

Abstracts (in English, up to 300 words) are due by 10 January via email to the convenors of the working group Nora Probst (nora.probst@uni-koeln.de) and Miguel Escobar Varela (m.escobar@nus.edu.sg). Please indicate whether you want to join live or in person. This interim meeting will be held in addition (not as a replacement) to the regular meeting at the IFTR conference in the summer of 2022.

We are looking forward to see you there – live or online!
