CfP IFTR Galway 2020

The Choreography and Corporeality Working Group will meet at IFTR Galway, 13-17 July, 2020.

The Choreography and Corporeality Working Group will meet at IFTR Galway, 13-17 July, 2020. We invite interested participants, including postgraduates, to join our group and contribute work for discussion. The working group in Choreography and Corporeality provides a platform for sharing original, cutting-edge research on dance, performance, and the body, in an international context.

Choreography, dance and body-centred performance practices provide a vital site for exploring the convergence of thought and action. Our members approach this intersection from a variety of interweaving perspectives that include socio-political, cultural, philosophical and historical considerations.

Wherever we meet, we try to schedule discussions and performances with choreographers who work and live where the IFTR Conference is held.

We ask participants to submit papers on their work-in-progress. Papers can address the conference theme of “Theatre Ecologies: Environments, Sustainability, and Politics”, and/or address any aspect of choreography and corporeality. Papers are distributed to the group and are read in advance of conference meetings. They are then grouped for discussion on the basis of synergies between them.

Abstract Submission:
Please submit a 300 word abstract along with a short bio of 50 words (max) to the Cambridge Core website by 31 January 2020: https://www.cambridge.org/core/membership/iftr/

If you want to join the Choreography and Corporeality Working Group, you need to specify this when you submit your abstract.
In order to submit an abstract, you need to first be a member of IFTR. You can become a member or renew your membership on the same Cambridge Core website: https://www.cambridge.org/core/membership/iftr/

A reminder that applicants to the IFTR bursary programme who wish to submit their abstract to a working group, must also submit to the conference by 31 January 2020.

Papers:
Completed papers of (maximum) 3000 words should be submitted to the working group convenors by Monday 08 June 2020 for circulation to the rest of the group to read in advance of our meeting.

Updates and information about our meeting in Galway will be emailed to the group and posted to the Choreography and Corporeality webpage on the IFTR website: https://www.iftr.org

If you are new to the group, please send an email to the convenors (contact details below) introducing yourself, and we will add you to our mailing list. We are always delighted to welcome new members and are very much looking forward to meeting old and new friends in Galway.
