Call for Participation for the international conference "Amateur Acts. Why Amateur Theatre Matters, from 8 to 10 September 2025 at the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, Grand Canal, Venice.
Dear Colleagues and friends
I’m writing to announce the launch of a call for participation at ‘Amateur Acts: Why Amateur Theatre Matters’ – a conference funded by the European Research Council’s ‘Performing Citizenship’ project. You will find the complete CfP on the project website: https://www.p-citizens.gwi.uni-muenchen.de/activities. It will be hosted at the University of Warwick’s palazzo on the grand canal in Venice, Italy, from 8-10 September 2025. The conference asks why amateur theatre has mattered to individuals and societies across Europe, its colonies and its migrant communities, both in the past and today. Following the event, a selection of the papers will be published in an edited collection as an output from the project.
I attach the full CFP here to give you an idea about the sort of areas that are of interest to us. It goes without saying that it would be absolutely fantastic to have you there! The deadline for proposals is not until 30 October 2024, so you have plenty of time to consider what you might discuss. Details about how to submit a proposal are in the CFP.
We’d also be very grateful if you could forward this CFP to any colleagues who you think may be interested in the event.
We look forward to hearing from you.
All Best Wishes
Meike Wagner
