IFTR 2022 Reyjkavik Important Notice to Delegates

Dear Colleagues

We are very excited to be finally able to welcome you to Reykjavik next week. The full program is available on the conference website and the Book of Abstracts will be published there shortly.

Please note that we are not planning to distribute a printed program. This is done both to reduce costs and carbon footprints. The schedule is available in the online document, which can be downloaded to a laptop, pad or smartphone.

The registration desk will open at 8 AM on Monday morning in the University Square (Háskólatorg) of the University of Iceland. We will also be present in front of the Student Cellar Bar (Stúdentakjallarinn) from 4 PM on Sunday, for those of you who would like to skip the hassle of the Monday morning registration. The Student Cellar Bar is in the basement of the University Square, down the stairs marked “Stúdentakjallarinn” in big letters, or via the elevator around the corner to the right of the stairs.

All the conference panels take place in the buildings surrounding the University Square. You can find a campus map and floor plans of the individual buildings in the conference program. The University Square will be the main hub of the conference, where you will find the registration and help desk, the University Bookstore with publishers’ stands, and where coffee and tea will be served during coffee breaks.

For those of you presenting papers, all the rooms are equipped with computers, projectors, and loudspeakers. If you have any presentation material, we strongly recommend bringing it on a USB stick or having it accessible online, rather than attempting to connect your own laptops to the system. As to the length of the presentation, please limit them to 20 minutes for the General Panels, and 10 minutes for the New Scholars Forum. Usually, the papers are presented back-to-back with 30 minutes of mutual discussions with all panellists at the end.

We are looking forward to inspiring days of intellectual exchange, but don’t forget to enjoy the lovely sights Iceland has to offer. There are still seats available for the Golden Circle Tour on Sunday 19 June and the Borgarfjörður and Settlement Centre Tour on Saturday 25 June. Both of them provide amazing opportunities to experience the natural beauty of Iceland as well as the rich history. Check it out on our social and cultural program page.

And don’t forget to sign up for the farewell party! It will be a blast! If you have problems booking a ticket through the link on the social program page, just check on us at the help desk and we’ll sort it out.

Stay tuned for updates mailed to you in the coming days.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to Reykjavik,

Magnus, Sigga and the Reykjavik Team
