The 2022 IFTR World congress will be held at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. The University’s main campus is centrally located, in a 10–15-minute walking distance from the city centre. If you are staying further away, there are good bus connections to the venue; the public bus – Strætó – has several stops around the main campus, where busses no. 1, 3, 6, 12 and 55 stop. Bus no. 55 is a direct line to the international airport.
The panels of the conference take place in the buildings that make up the main campus of the University. The general panels, New Scholars Forum and the working group meetings all take place in five close-knit buildings – Aðalbygging (the Main Building), Árnagarður, Lögberg, Oddi and Veröld. The rooms accommodate 20-100 persons and are all equipped with computers and projectors for presentations. The houses are easily accessible, with elevators and automatic doors.
Situated in the centre between the five buildings, the University Square (Háskólatorg) will serve as the central hub of the conference. It will house the welcome desk, publisher booths and coffee breaks. The University Square also contains the University Cafeteria, the key spot for a budget lunch, and the Student Cellar, a restaurant offering hamburgers, sandwiches and more, as well as being the cheapest bar in town.
Keynote lectures, the opening and closing ceremonies and the IFTR general assembly will take place in Háskólabíó (the University Cinema), which seats 930. The Cinema is in a five-minute walking distance from the University Square. The welcome reception will take place in the foyer of the Cinema, following the opening ceremony.
