Conference Platform and Format

Conference Platform

The conference will be hosted on a private online platform. All registered delegates will receive log-in details, and only registered delegates will have access to the event. All of the activities that you would normally expect to engage in at an IFTR conference – giving papers, attending panels, meeting other people, browsing book displays, watching performances – will be presented via this platform. We’re working with an experienced conference organising company that has presented several international conferences online, so delegates can be confident that the system will work effectively and reliably.

Conference Format

The conference is being hosted in Galway in Ireland, and will be run on Irish Standard Time IST (GMT +1).

As always, the conference will include:

  •         Working groups

  •         General Panels

  •         New Scholars Forum

  •         Plenary Lectures

  •         A curated series of performances

  •         Opportunities for informal meetings

  •         Exhibitions and publishers’ displays.

We want to ensure that delegates can participate in the conference from across different time zones, but also wish to ensure that we’re all gathering at roughly the same times! For that reason, the conference schedule will run as follows:

  • Monday 12, Wednesday 14 and Friday 16 July – the conference will run from 09.00 to 18.00 IST (with optional entertainment running from 18.00 onwards).

  • Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 July – the conference will run from 12.00 noon IST to 21.30 IST (with optional entertainment from 21.30 onwards)

Our intention is to record panels and plenary lectures so that delegates can watch back via the private conference platform during the event and for up to one week after the conference. We hope that this will be of benefit to delegates who are participating in different time zones and/or delegates who wish to limit their time online. Support for delivery of your paper. You will be able to deliver your paper live or to upload a recorded video in advance. You will also be able to meet with a member of the conference team before your panel takes place in order to test your camera and microphone, familiarise yourself with the platform, and ask any questions you might have.
